The name "Tamboo" derived from a Caribbean percussion instrument, a Tamboo Bamboo, a notable precursor to the creation of steelpan. If you're lucky you can still find them being played by carnival-goers in Trinidad today. 

TAMBOO WEEKEND is about the music, particularly soca. This electrifying genre of music can be described as “jump-up music.” It combines East Indian and African rhythms with calypso to formulate a high-powered music, often considered to be the driving force behind every Caribbean carnival celebration.
